Minimizing Eye Strain From the Computer

People who work on a computer for a long duration have the risk of developing eye problems. There are some alternatives to overcome this problem. The four tips one need to focus while working on a computer is described.

There are so many eye problems developing due to increased usage of computers by many people. Children sit in front of the computer for a long time for entertainment purpose and adults sit in front of the computer for professional reasons. Step 1:
The simple and most easy way is to relax for sometime and then continue sitting in front of the computer. This should be done at regular intervals. For example, five minutes break every half an hour. After relaxation, one needs to work with more enthusiasm as there is reduction of strain on your eyes. One need to walk for five minutes during relaxation period.

Step 2:

The computer screen level should be a little below the eye level. There will not be any strain on the muscles of the head and neck as well as on the eyes. It prevents occurrence of any soreness of neck and upper back. To prevent glare, a distance of about 20 – 25 inches should be maintained between the operator and the computer screen.

Step 3:

The placement of lights also influence on eye straining. It should not be a glare-like kind of place or they should not be in any reflections to avoid damage. Lights should be placed in such a way that there is avoidance of reflections or squinting may occur. There should be minimal lighting. Anti-glare screen available in the market helps to minimise glare and reduces straining.

Step 4:

The main problem is the dryness of the tear ducts which in turn causes the eyes to dry. This occurs in people who use computer for long durations. The dryness is dangerous and hence moistening should be done regularly to avoid it. There are artificial tear products available in the market to help in moistening the eyes. All the required papers and documents should be available nearby so that there is not much strain on the muscles. A copy holder can also be used. If the problem continues for a long time, then it is best to consult a doctor especially an ophthalmologist.
